The Best Years Bed and Breakfast Inn
![]() |
Hi.
And welcome to the first bed and breakfast inn dedicated exclusively to
midlifers and located completely in cyberspace. Whether you've come to
have fun (most of us are here at least partly to play),
to just get away, to discover and reaffirm
your identity and passion
in life, to recover from a loss, or to work
through a midlife crisis; I'm glad you're
here.
So put on some grubbies, take your shoes off, and stroll leisurely through the grounds. You'll meet some of my old friends here and my new ones. There's plenty of opportunity to visit with them and me, so come on in and look around. And be sure to sign the guest registry. We want to know who's walking these trails with us. |

Thank you, I enjoyed your site so very much! I will be 58 next week
and am starting a new business. I've decided to give a
speech to my Toastmasters club about people over age 55 who start new
lives, careers, businesses. So far in my
cyber-exploration, I have not found a site for over 55 entrepreneurs,
but the inspiration and stories you wrote on
yours have given me some wonderful 'stuff' for my speech - and I will
credit BestYears and refer my audience to your site.
Thanks again,
P.S. My new business is Quest Creative Concepts and the URL, when the
site is developed, will be questcc.com. I will be
promoting my writing and my web site marketing services.
And I would love to include a link to your site for my midlife visitors,
Peggi Ridgway

Nice work. I've just found your website and your columns describe the emotional life I'm living very well.
What I didn't realize was that there are so many others experiencing many of the same feelings. "Me...midlife crisis" ? "Nah, not me".
Thanks, your columns give me my first midlife examples to identify with. Keep up the good work.
Tom
Hi THere!
I teach Adult Development and Aging to undergraduates at Flagler College
in St. Augustine, FL. They're mostly 18-22 year olds and my experience
previously with this course has been non traditional students in their
30s and 40s. The kids are having a hard time conceptualizing
anything to do with middle age---they think its "old", so you can be sure
I'm adding your
delightful page to the list of sites I give them almost every week.
Thanks for your good work. I'm thoroughly enjoying it and hope my students soon will too!
Regards,
Karen Johnston

I don't know how I found myself at your column but if fits. It's
sunday morn and I'm trying to keep myself up with
the internet. Everyone but me understands the ways of interworking
web stuff. So I'm not sure how my search on
an author who's book I just finished led me here..Barbara Raskin book
Hot Fashes, very midlife, touching, raw and
great woman's stuff. Somehow Jeeves associated her with a younger Raskin
who's web page was connected to
yours. I 'm beginning to like the dot to dot connections that happen,
only I am more likely to try to find meaning in
the mystery of the connection than the science of the dot. My morning
began with a return to the novel around 9,
Tom bringing coffee in to me around 10. The sweetness of it stirring
me into wanting a cuddle and he saying sure
while he swipes on the TV, jumps in bed and meet the press joins us.
"Your kidding, right". Silence. "Thanks for
the coffee now get" That's real midlife. It's not so much
that the steam has left our lives but it's shifted somewhere
else. Into the coffee? Meet the press? Barbara Raskin died last summer
I found out through todays search. I wanted
to tell her that her novel moved me, that she was right on and try
my hand at sending off a message to an unknown
recepient hoping that they would enjoy hearing from me,so instead,
you win. I think the bestyears is a website that
will be on my favorites list. Change is happening to all of us at this
time of our life and I for one will embrace it.
Thanks, Roxane

Hi Mike,
My name is Dustie. I turned 40 last August. I have done my 'work' along the way - just so I wouldn't go through mid-life crisis. Guess what? As you probably know, it wasn't the preventative medicine I thought it was. I am far from sorry for tackling my life issues along the way as I can just imagine what mid-life crisis must be like for those who never bothered. I am pleased to find a guest room waiting for me at the inn. Do me a favor though? If I overstay my welcome? Kick my ass out?
By the way, it is still a nice looking ass. Thank heavens some of that preventative medicine - called exercise and diet - paid off.
I look forward to doing some reading, some running, and knowing that I am not alone.
Sincerely,
Dustie

I found your site after having Sherlock2 search for ambition (lack of),
uselessness and finally "mid-life crisis". Of all the places (on
the web) I've been to, yours seems to be the one best suited for finding
answers and - hopefully - inspiration. I'll be back - I need the
comfort of others who hopefully understand how futile I feel at my attempts
to do just about everything. Your web site feels like the promise
of Springtime. Thank you. - Judy M.
