The Best Years Bed and Breakfast Inn
![]() |
Hi.
And welcome to the first bed and breakfast inn dedicated exclusively to
midlifers and located completely in cyberspace. Whether you've come to
have fun (most of us are here at least partly to play),
to just get away, to discover and reaffirm
your identity and passion
in life, to recover from a loss, or to work
through a midlife crisis; I'm glad you're
here.
So put on some grubbies, take your shoes off, and stroll leisurely through the grounds. You'll meet some of my old friends here and my new ones. There's plenty of opportunity to visit with them and me, so come on in and look around. And be sure to sign the guest registry. We want to know who's walking these trails with us. |

I came across your website and have found it most helpful and comforting.
My husband who at 38 is experiencing a MLC or he calls it 'confusion'.
We have now been seperated for 2 months after an extraordinarily wonderful
11 year marriage (the last 12 months have been difficult)..... so as you
can probably understand, I'm devastated!. He left today for a 4 week holiday
to Europe to hopefully find himself, I'm just hoping we can come to some
form of resolution when he gets back, this state of
'limbo' is just excruciating. I come from Australia and would like
to know more about your website, btw I'm a real novice with the internet!.

Dear Mike,
I was just having a "midlife day" at work and thought I'd look the subject up at lunch, and there was your little B and B. Feeling better already...

Just wanted to say "thanks" for all of the support and help I received from reading everyone's comments. I know I'm not alone in coping with my husband's midlife crisis. Hopefully your site and God will get me through this, whatever the outcome may be.

Hi Mike, I came up on your web site while looking for career counciling. I am an electrical designer (not a degreed engineer) with twenty six plus years experience. Since 1989 I have had nine jobs in the Atlanta area, my most resent employer is a cement plant equipment supplier (I've worked for this company since november of 1999), I seem to be getting the same old spill I've gotten in the past. Quote"We hired you to do Project X, and now Project X is coming to an end, so..."
I have faith in God (the Lord Jesus Christ) that I will have something to do as long as I'm able. The Lord knows I'm getting tried of the layoffs, of managers who expect you to know as much as someone with ten college degrees and of not having a place where I can serve that I truly feel a part of.
Enough crying... Your web site looks great! I praise God that there are people like you who step up to help and encourage others. I don't know if your are a Christian, but blessings to you for your example.

hopes of . . . best years yet to come!! Thought I would see
what your site has to offer..

Hi all, and thanks for visiting Best Years. I'm going to be away from my computer for about 8 days so I wont be able to post messages. However, send them anyway, and I'll catch up just as soon as I return home. Have a good day.

I really enjoyed Murphy Was a Midlifer.
Great site. It sort of puts things in the right perspective.
Who was it that said that "Life is hell (or something like that) and then
you die"? Well maybe it is not really bad if you have
the right view of it.
Thanks, Dan

I happened across your site and was fascinated by the fact you used a bed& breakfast in such a delightful way. I myself am a bed & breakfast owner. I have a place in Claymont De. just outside (Wilmington De.). This was very restful for me as i am always busy with the B&B.

I am doing a job search and found your columns - what a treat!! As a 47 year woman, recenty bought-out after 10 years marketing for the arts, I'm experiencing lots of ups and downs. Your humour, insight and sense of reality are grounding. Thanks from Victoria, BC. Wendy.

I am very pleased to find your site. I believe in arming myself with
education when encountering any problem in life. I am currently reading
a christian book on this matter however I feel I need some interaction
with other's going through this victimization period. I feel like I'm losing
ground. I love my spouse and want to handle this situation the best I can.
I
value our marriage and our family. Thank you for having this
site.
