The Best Years Bed and Breakfast Inn
|
Hi.
And welcome to the first bed and breakfast inn dedicated exclusively to
midlifers and located completely in cyberspace. Whether you've come to
have fun (most of us are here at least partly to play),
to just get away, to discover and reaffirm
your identity and passion
in life, to recover from a loss, or to work
through a midlife crisis; I'm glad you're
here.
So put on some grubbies, take your shoes off, and stroll leisurely through the grounds. You'll meet some of my old friends here (people like Meg, Gordon, my sister D'Lynne and wife Charlotte) and my new ones (people like Susanne, Kathy, Truet, Dan and Alice). There's plenty of opportunity to visit with them and me, so come on in and look around. And be sure to sign the guest registry. We want to know who's walking these trails with us. |

Mike I'm currently writing a paper on the question, What are the likely problems that Boomer generation will bring into counselling contexts in the future given their unique history and character. I have to be careful in converting situations as I am writing for a college in Australia as part of a conselling degree and the paper should really be based on the unique history and character of Boomers in Australia. Fortunately some cahracteristics are wider focused and apply widely. Born in South Wales, UK, am not classified as a Boomer as there was no baby boom recorded in the United Kigdom, probably owing to a large post war migration of young couples who had their children overseas especially in Australia, Canada and New Zealand. My college will not permit me to cite unlimited Internet sources and yet will allow me to cite, Newspaper articles or columns...Could you let me have the name of one of the newspapers that your column is published in and I will cite the newspaper rather than the website... regards Roy Nicholson
Roy,
I am in the Amarillo Daily News, Amarillo Texas.
Sorry, but I would have to know the precise article in question to give you a date of publication.
Thanks and let me know how this turns out.
Mike

I was reading your column and noticed that you are from the same area that I am. I was wondering which local newspaper that your columns come out in.
Thanks

Thank you for your site. My only child has left the nest, and I find myself wanting to change careers. Not sure of what I want to do, however, am confident I will find it. I am going to contact one or two of the others on your message board. Thank you for being here.

Just to let you know I used some of the material in a Sunday School classs on Midlife Transitions. The class enjoyed the humor, probably because we all have experiences that are similar. John Stocks Lexington, Ohio

Similar to someone else on this page, I'm a graduate student and am doing an article on mid-life career changes (which I'm in the middle of myself).
I need to "interview" someone about what they went through in making a career change. Obviously, the interview can be done by e-mail.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Happy to have you, Donna. The fact that you've learned to use the Web at your age tells us a bunch about you. Welcome to Best Years, and I hope you'll come back often.

What a wonderful web site I stumbled onto. I'm a transplanted Texan living in NYC which might be alienating enough in it's own right, but I'm also 49 years old. I'm in a city that tends to magnetize youth, but repel my own generation. Thanks for offering this cyber respite. In the words of a famous action figure, I'll be back"... Kristin
