The Best Years Bed and Breakfast Inn
|
Hi.
And welcome to the first bed and breakfast inn dedicated exclusively to
midlifers and located completely in cyberspace. Whether you've come to
have fun (most of us are here at least partly to play),
to just get away, to discover and reaffirm
your identity and passion
in life, to recover from a loss, or to work
through a midlife crisis; I'm glad you're
here.
So put on some grubbies, take your shoes off, and stroll leisurely through the grounds. You'll meet some of my old friends here (people like Meg, Gordon, my sister D'Lynne and wife Charlotte) and my new ones (people like Susanne, Kathy, Truet, Dan and Alice). There's plenty of opportunity to visit with them and me, so come on in and look around. And be sure to sign the guest registry. We want to know who's walking these trails with us. |

I am a student in college doing research on the stressors in mid life. I am in sincere need of some articles. I will greatly appreciate it if you could help me. Please send any information and addresses you might be aware of. I have looked at your web site and it has not proven to be effective to this topic. Thank you!
Sincerely, Amy

I am doing a research paper on motherhood after age 35 (mainly psychological developmental research) Any suggestions on where I can get research data. I have checked the library but have only found more childbirth information and not psychology. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Joan

Amy--Thanks for visiting. I'm not sure you connected with my true index page so try More Free Columns again. Then you might also look at the Booknook (you can find most titles for free in you local library) and the Best Years Links Page for more possibilities. Good luck with your search.
Joan--Try www.midlifemommies.com and www.prime-choices.com Good luck
Everyone--You'll find new stuff on the Murphy's Laws Discussion, the Midlife Crisis Forum, and the Q & A page.
Have a great week--Mike

Hello Inn guests,
I work on a PBS television program in New York called City Life, for which we are looking for people struggling with challenges of midlife. This may seem like an odd request, but we seek someone who is going through some radical midlife changes (e.g. loss of a job, divorce, decision to dramatically change career or lifestyle) who might be willing to go on our show.
The person we need must be from New York City (including the boroughs) and must intend to stay here indefinitely.
Anyone with an interest in participating in our documentary program is welcome to contact me, Matthew Testa, at Testa@wnet.org
Thanks for the chance to post this.
Matthew Testa, Associate Producer, City Life

Dear Sir/Ma'am,
Greeting in the name of St. La Salle! I am a fourth year student of De La Salle Univeristy and is currently writing her undergraduate thesis on Midlife experiences. May I request for any information regarding middle age, midlife crisis, menopause, etc. (with some sociological prespective). Any help would be highly appreaciated.
Hoping in your swift response. Thank you.

Matthew, Hope you get some replies. I know we have some New York readers, but don't know if they live in the city.
Lynn, See my reply to Amy under October 5 and good luck with your research project.

We are doing an assignment in Adult Living and need to know more about mid-life crisis. Could you please give us a short description of this condition and how it is treated. Thank you.
Georgie in Indiana
My response: October 16, '98
Hi Georgie. Glad you wrote. I don't have time to do what you asked (and you wouldn't want me to do the whole assignment for you either; would you? ;-)), but you can look at How to Survive a Midlife Crisis and the Best Years Booknook (you can get these titles free from a library). Also check my Links page, which will have other midlife sites.
Good luck with your report.
Everyone--You'll find new stuff this weekend on the Truck Driver's Dad discussion, the Affairs discussion, and the Q & A page. I'm sorry it took me so long to get these new questions up. Anyway, have a great weekend.--Mike

Mike-- This is mid life crisis. ... After teaching over 20 years they put a computer in my room.. Can't go where I want to and can't leave where I am. My 17 year old daughter has to help me..Frustration is a 50 year old hippie trying to learn the computer.. Solution Go ride my new Harley.. If this gets to you , have a good day from an old hippie and good friend.
Max Sunderman.
My response: October 19, '98
Hey Max,
Seems like only yesterday we were cutting up in study hall together. Yep, these computers can be confusing. When I started back to school 5 years ago, I couldn't even type anymore. Then I landed in a grad program where we were creating web pages. Needless to say, I had to do some serious adjusting.
Really? A new Harley? I'm jealous.
Give me a call sometime when you're in Canyon.--Mike
