"Sometimes the best begins in the middle." Updated August 2008
Welcome to Our Best Years with Mike Bellah, Ph.D.
Hi. I'm Mike Bellah, pictured here on Wheeler Peak, at 13,161 feet the highest point in New Mexico. Mountain climbing is just one of the new gifts I discovered in the wake of my midlife crisis. There are many others, which you can read about on this site.

You see, I really do believe that our middle years can become the best ones yet. That's why, for a number of years, I wrote "Midlife Moments"--little essays on various midlife topics, which appeared weekly in The Amarillo Daily News. My goal was to make these pieces sometimes funny, sometimes practical, sometimes thoughtful, and always hopeful. I stopped writing for the paper in January 2000, but I still have most of the articles here on the Web for you to enjoy free of charge.

Finally, in August, 2008, I started a Best Years Blog where you can read the new stuff I'm writing, respond to old columns on Best Years and ask any questions you have for me.

So I'm glad you stopped by; enjoy your stay, and I look forward to hearing from you. (Best Years Blog)
